For over 50 years, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and its predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) have monitored Santa's flight. In 1955, an advertisement misprinted Santa's phone number, causing children to call the CONAD Commander-in-Chief's operations hotline instead. Colonel Harry Shoup, the Director of Operations at the time, instructed his team to check the radar for signs of Santa flying south from the North Pole. Kids who called were kept updated on Santa's journey, and thus, a holiday tradition was born.

Nowadays, all ages can track Santa's every move by visiting NORAD's website. On December 24th, digital Santa Cams will capture images and videos of Santa and his reindeer as they embark on their global adventure. Even from your mobile phone, you can keep up with Santa's whereabouts and be part of the excitement!
