Hi! I am the publisher for Macaroni KID SE Kansas City, MO! Let me introduce myself – my name is Brittany!
I was born in New Orleans and my family moved to Kansas when I was a baby. I grew up in Overland Park and Olathe, and had a brief stent in Lawrence trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. When I didn’t find those answers at KU, I came back to the suburbs. I moved around a bit while working and just "figuring out life" but always stayed in the area. I have my Associates in Criminal Justice from Johnson County Community College, my Bachelors in Social-Psychology with a concentration in Human Development from Park University, a Masters in Social Welfare and a graduate certificate in Global & International Studies with an emphasis on Haiti - both from the University of Kansas. Although it took me a while to figure out my calling, but I finally found it! Alongside being a wife and mother, I work as a full-time elementary school social worker and manage our school's social media accounts and newsletters.
I met my husband Eric back in 2012 while working in the finance industry. Fast forward to 2016, and we tied the knot! As of February 2024, we are the proud parents of 3 young children: Liam (age 5), Willow (age 3), Owen (our infant) as well as one senior dog. I enjoy traveling, planning events and a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. I also love finding new local restaurants and businesses to support, volunteering, spending time with my friends and family, and advocating for others. In addition to working full time as a social worker at an elementary school, I also have a personal blog I share with a family member - where we write about anything and everything. I enjoy being an active part of my neighborhood, especially when it comes to event planning. I love discovering new local restaurants and businesses to support. While some may consider me a picky eater, I take pride in exploring our local food scene. I also share a personal blog with a family member, where we write about a wide range of topics. A few years ago, I discovered Macaroni KID while searching for family events to attend. Not only am I the publisher for this area, I also publish Macaroni KID Gardner-Spring Hill-Paola. If that wasn't enough - I am also an assistant for 4 other local Macaroni KID editions: Overland Park-Olathe-Shawnee, Downtown/South Kansas City, the Northland and Kansas City Kansas/Leavenworth, so you might see some crossover content as I know readers are likely to travel to other nearby areas for various attractions & events!
I'm thrilled about the opportunity to get this site up and running again, and and can't wait to create a one-stop-shop for all things local, including events, restaurants, small retail shops, and more.
