A birthday party theme incorporating sweetness, candy, and bright colors? I knew immediately that for Willow’s second birthday, “Two Sweet” would be perfect! If you like the idea of this, but need it for another age, I’ve see people do “Donut Grow Up” or “FOURever Sweet”, which are both equally adorable!
When it comes to decorations, the possibilities are endless! You can use candy jars, lollipop balloons, and cute signs with sweet sayings like "Two Sweet" or "Life is Sweet". You can also create a candy bar where guests can fill up their own goodie bags with sweet treats. Don't forget to add some cute photo props like a giant lollipop or a candy cane to capture the memories of this special occasion.
For the food, you can serve candy-themed snacks like popcorn with candy sprinkles, cupcakes with candy toppers, and fruit skewers with marshmallow clouds. For the cake, a two-tiered cake with a giant candy topper or a donut would be perfect. As far as party favors go, you can give out candy bags with treats inside.

After deciding on a party theme for Willow's second birthday, I quickly whipped up an invitation using Canva. I then reached out to Karli at Charlie's Treasures so she could bring my vision to life in terms of an outfit for Willow and a corresponding shirt for Liam. My original thought was just a quick vinyl press onto some tees but Karli took it up a notch. Rather than doing screen prints, she does embroidery and other handmade children's clothing. Embroidery is a truly an art form that involves time and patience, to create intricate designs. The handmade items we received from Charlie's Treasures are of highest quality. I love that she added a personal touch and did the embroidery for us!

One of the must-haves on my list was a cake that had an upside down ice cream cone on it (thanks Pinterest)! Luckily for me, I found the right woman for the job. Laurie, owner of Sunshine Bake Shoppes, said yes without hesitation. Not only did she make the most delicious vanilla cake (if you know me - you know I'm not a big cake person, but this time I DID go back for seconds) but she also made coordinating mini cupcakes, which were perfect for our younger guests!
In addition to the cake and cupcakes, I wanted to play off the theme by having a ridiculous amount of sweets. Besides have a variety of desserts available for our friends and family, this also doubled as decor. No shortage of snacks here! Thankfully Paul's Better Bakery, Rolling in the Dough and Titi Sweets were all able to assist with this feat.

Paul's Better Bakery is a beloved institution in Lawrence, KS, known for its delicious baked goods. For this event, we opted to get a wide variety of flavored macarons, coconut macaroons and chocolate covered caramels.
Kansas City food truck sensation, Rolling in the Dough, provided pre-scooped edible cookie dough for our party. You can indulge in their mouth-watering cookie dough without any worries, since they use heat to treat their flour and do not use eggs.
Ashley from Titi Sweets was so kind to put together a dessert party platter for us, with a custom color palette matching our party invite and decor. She offers a variety of items, making it hard to decide what to get. (One of everything please?!) But we narrowed it down to vanilla and chocolate cake pops, as well as chocolate covered Oreos and chocolate covered pretzels.
Terrace Catering also made a delicious spread, helping to fill any hunger gaps, by providing us with the following: Caesar salad with her homemade dressing, fresh fruit, veggies with hummus, spinach artichoke dip, bruschetta and caprese skewers.

We were fortunate with the weather, and it provided an excellent opportunity for outdoor activities. Children could draw with chalk or play at the playground while enjoying the lovely sunshine. Nonetheless, the true entertainment highlight was the white bounce house with custom balloon garland from Boss Babe Balloon Co.
In lieu of party favors, I had goodie bags on hand and let guests take their favorites with them when they were ready to hit the road!
Marking special milestones with loved ones is a fantastic way to create unforgettable memories and build stronger connections. Willow had a great time, and I want to, again, express my gratitude to the small businesses and local vendors who collaborated with me to make her second birthday a sweet success!
