After nearly four years of planning and 18 months of construction, the wait is finally over as the City of Blue Springs and Blue Springs Parks and Recreation announce the opening of the new Blue Surf Bay Waterpark at 5 a.m., Friday, May 24 to the public. (Prior to the grand opening, the city will host a dedication ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 23 that will offer a few surprises. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony as well as tour the facility from 5 to 7 p.m. that day.)
Nestled between 7 Highway and Adams Dairy Parkway on Mock Avenue, Blue Surf Bay offers family-friendly entertainment along with aquatic thrills. Boasting both an indoor and outdoor play area, the waterpark features an array of attractions and amenities for all ages.
Features of Blue Surf Bay Waterpark include:
- Surf Simulator – Visitors can come hang ten on the exciting Murphy’s Waves Dual Surf-Air. Unlike other Surf Simulators, the Murphys Waves Dual Surf-Air features a unique “Soft-Fall” air-cushioned ride surface along with “Vari-Flow” pumps.
- Slide Tower – The slide tower packs in the fun with four unique water slides, including the world’s longest stand-up slide. Each slide provides its own engaging experiences for the riders.
- Indoor Splash Pad – The indoor interactive splash pad, for all ages, features the latest spray innovations incorporated into a free form design. Near the center, there are a variety of spray features that create unique shapes and spray patterns.
- Lazy River – The Lazy River is approximately 600 feet in length, featuring a special action channel for guests who want to float in a relaxed fashion.
- Zero-Depth Entry Pool – The Zero-Depth Entry Pool offers beach-style entry and features ground sprays leading up to a dual racer slide and tipping bucket.
- Wave Ball Pool – The Wave Ball Pool will provide an ocean-like effect as waves are generated from a large ball that moves up and down.
- Indoor Pool and NinjaCross Course – The indoor aquatic center features a four-lane pool with a rock-climbing wall, waterfall and two diving platforms. Hovering above the pool is the NinjaCross Course. It allows for obstacle challenges, both above and below the water.
Blue Surf Bay Waterpark will also include both swim lessons and aqua fitness classes.
